Ways to Help

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank needs you. It takes a community to feed a community. There are a variety of ways to help.

Donate Funds

With every dollar donated, the Foodbank is able to provide four meals in our community. There is no better return on your investment than being able to stretch your donation in this powerful way.

Donate Food

If you are interested in donating non-perishable food products, please drop it off at the Foodbank, or at one of our drop-off locations.  We are grateful to our retail partners who donate thousands of pounds of food to us weekly.  If you are a food distributor, such as a restaurant or grocery store, and would like to donate food, please contact Andrew Council, at, or call the Foodbank 757-596-7188 Ext. 115

Volunteering is an integral part of the success of the Foodbank. It’s a great way to get involved in your community and help those who are less fortunate.

Corporate Giving

Corporate support is critical to provide hunger relief to our neighbors in need. It’s easy to find a way to connect with the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank through your company or foundation. Ways you can be involved include:

  • Sponsorships
  • Employee giving
  • Food and fund drives
  • In-kind services and goods
  • Volunteer projects
  • Grants

Host a Food and Fund Drive

The Foodbank depends on fundraisers throughout the year to help provide the gift of a meal. If you are interested in hosting an event, click here to get started.

Sponsor a Mobile Pantry

The Foodbank’s Mobile Food Pantry Program delivers and distributes fresh, healthy food directly into the communities that need it. If you are interested in sponsoring one, click here to get started.

Advocate for Us

Advocacy plays an important roll in our fight against hunger. Currently, based on Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap, the Greater Peninsula has the highest level of food insecure families in the state of Virginia. Nearly 74,000 individuals in the Foodbank’s service area, almost 19,000 of which are children, have limited or uncertain access to adequate food to live a healthy nutritious lifestyle. Help us make a difference by sharing our story.

Take a Tour

We would love to share our Foodbank with you. You can schedule a tour and see how your donations are put to work. Please give us a call at 757.596.7188. Tours are provided Monday-Thursday between 9am and 3pm; Fridays 9am to Noon.
